The Paris Motor Show is a global affair and many of the cars on display here are not destined for our shores. Walking up and down the rows of show stands, a student of the American market would be struck by the number of brands - many of which at one time were sold in the U.S., - that are no longer a part of our automotive landscape. This is particularly evident in the French home team—Peugeot, Citroën and Renault have been sold in the U.S. market, but no more. From Italy, Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo are absent, although the latter plans a comeback for 2010. Even domestic brands, like Ford, sell some cars in Europe that you can’t get in America, something the company’s current management hopes to fix. So, to satisfy your thirst for the best European unobtainables, we’ve scoured the show and come up with a top 5 list of our favorites. Enjoy.
