Auto show season takes a break during the summer in much the same way school does, so as journalists we salivate with anticipation once the first blush of cool weather reminds us that “what’s new in cars” is just around the corner. The Frankfurt International Motor Show is of particular importance as it is one of a few to be held every two years. As such, it tends to be a well-attended show, bringing to light many of the newest and most creative designs looking to grab attention. Here are some of the highlights we expect to see this year.

Jaguar XF

If loving Jaguar is wrong than I don’t want to be right. The on again, off again discussions by The Ford Motor Company to sell Jaguar and Land Rover appear to once again be a hot topic as we approach 2008. Personally, I see more positives coming out of Ford’s involvement than negatives and the new Jaguar XF looks to be a surefire winner from the design team.

Moving away from the rounded corners of the previous XJ sedans, the 2008 Jaguar XF takes a decidedly crisp and swooping approach to 4-door design. Think 2-door XK Coupe with sedan functionality and your perception of how it looks would be fairly accurate. The outward stance is lean and mean while inside, it looks like a sharply pressed suit. Business casual is out in car design these days and the new Jaguar XF wraps a carefully tied Windsor knot around a beautifully appointed and functional sedan.
